Garbage Pickup

To see all future pickup dates, check our Monthly Calendar or the City of Houston Service Schedule.

Heavy Trash and Yard Waste pickup remain in flux with the city deciding on how to proceed. According to the Solid Waste Department (May 2026), beginning in June 2026, heavy trash will be picked up every other month, but we do not know if that means even or odd numbered months for us. No word on any changes to yard waste pickup. You can find more information on what is accepted and how to schedule can be found on the City of Houston Solid Waste Department website.

Additionally, for heavy recycling that won’t fit in your bin or items like electronics and large items, you can find a list of city recycling centers here. The closest to Forest West is at 14400 Sommermeyer off Hempstead Highway. Centers are open 9am – 6pm Tuesday-Saturday.
